Supermarket Sweep, Enter to Win!

This game is exclusively for our friends back home, so pay attention all you American peeps!

If you didn't know, Zurich is an expensive city. Last year it was ranked number ten on a list of the world's most expensive places to live. New York City was ranked #29. So you can imagine the sticker shock we've come to expect here, even when we hit up the local grocery store. Tonight we did just that and we've decided to have y'all guess how much we spent. Here's our haul:

Zurich groceries!

In case you can't make it all out, here's a list of everything we bought:

- Shreddies cereal, my new favorite!
- Frozen bruschetta
- Fresh mushrooms (0.094kg)
- Swiss cheese, pre-sliced
- Hackbraten (German meatloaf)
- Laundry detergent
- Three packages of pasta sauce
- Sandwich bread
- Roast beef, pre-sliced
- Salami, pre-sliced
- Bowtie pasta
- Colgate toothpaste
- Toilet paper (16 count, discounted 40%)
- Chocolate cake (loaf-like)
- Instant gravy mix
- Refrigerated prosciutto pizza

Take some time to look over the menu and with a comment on this post, guess our total. If you're the closest to the actual cost (yes, you can go over), we'll make sure you get a special treat from Switzerland! We will reveal the answer Thursday by way of a comment on this post, so check back soon to find out who won!

Happy guessing!

Andrew

I just became hungry :) What's in my fridge?
btw. the cheese You bought is actually dutch ;) It's nothing like a good Gruyere or Appenzeller.

Well that's a bummer about the cheese! I was looking for a pre-sliced Swiss cheese for sandwiches, but there's very little pre-sliced cheese at our Coop.

I picked this one up because it looked the most like Swiss, even though it didn't say "Swiss" anywhere on the label. Haven't tried it yet, but I'm a huge cheese fan, so it really can't be THAT bad. :)

Oh I can't wait to go to Wal-Mart, buy a ton of CHEAP goodies, and then wheel them out to my CAR in a basket! It's just too easy. :)

I guess $4,000.00 considering the cost of getting from San Antonio to the grocery store in Zurich.

Lucky for you, we're not playing this "The Price is Right" style where if you over-bid you're automatically out.

Okay, so a guess for $4000.00. That'd be even more in CHF! Yikes. :)

Grandma McClintock says it is $120.00

Susan (Granma's neighbor) guesses $112.50

But, here in Dumas we can compare shop with coupons and sales and get it for $39.00.

Hope you all are having lots of fun and making wonderful memories.

$138.32 is my guess. Are family members eligible? Love you both!
